I have an EIN from the YMCA for childcare but Turbotax did not ask for it when preparing my taxes. Is this normal?

Turbotax asks the question "Do any of these apply? (These are uncommon) Tax-exempt organization, Foreign provider, None of the above. and asks you to select an option. I chose Tax Exempt but no option appeared to enter the EIN. Tax Act asks the same questions but still asks for the EIN to be entered.

When you enter information for child and dependent care in Form 2441:

IRS instructions state "If the care provider is an individual, enter his or her social security number (SSN). Otherwise, enter the provider's employer identification number (EIN). If the provider is a tax-exempt organization, enter “Tax-Exempt” in column (c)."

In TurboTax, if the care provider is a tax-exempt organization, you need only report the name and address of the organization on your return.

To enter child care expenses:

  1. Log into your account and continue (if not already there).
  2. In the Search box (top right-hand corner), type “child and dependent care”.
  3. Click on the Magnifying Glass icon.
  4. Click on “Jump to child and dependent care” ink high-lighted in Blue.
  5. Answer the Step-by-step instructions.
