IRS Taxes Delayed for no reason

Filed 1/28/24, straight forward return, W2, less what I paid equals owe or refund. Estimated refund 2/19/24. Well it's 2/27/24 still no refund. Anyway to find out WHY? Turbo isn't helpful.

The only definitive way to find out a "why" is to talk to the IRS, and even then it's hit or miss; sometimes they won't know either.   But if you wish to do so, you can see what they say.  It might have been pulled for more review, and they could be in the process of sending you a notice/letter.

I assume you checked to be sure your efiled return was successful and accepted (check in your Online TurboTax account).   If so, what is displayed at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?

https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund

Does it say received and "processing" or "still being processed" (or similar)?    Are there any other messages there?

Here's some more info.   Do you happen to have an IRS account?  Some folks will log into the IRS account and look at their current tax return transcript to see if there are any 3-digit IRS transaction codes that can be a clue to what might be going on.    Also in the account is a tab for Notices/Letters that can say if a notice/letter has been issued, and if so, it might be viewable there.
