Were you previously able to use the "Where's My Refund" tool to check your status and find information, but can't now? i.e., did it recognize your information previously, but now won't? The IRS does maintenance every week, and perhaps you got caught up in that. That tool can be squirrely at times as a return moves through processing and information can sometimes come and go.
The IRS says "the WMR system is not available every Monday from 12:00 am (Midnight) to 3:00 am Eastern Time. "
If you efiled your return, be sure it was accepted. If you used Online TurboTax, you can log into your Online account and check the efile status at the Tax Home to be sure it shows "accepted."
When the tool is functional again, be sure you are entering correct info--SSN, filing status, and Federal refund amount. Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount and not a total refund amount that includes a state refund. The amount to use for the Federal refund is on your Federal Form 1040, Line 21a.
what info?
There's been a lot of people in the last 90 minutes posting that WMR says their info doesn't match so they can't look up their refunds. I assumed this one is referring to that. If not, they'll probably post back. The IRS says their WMR system is down every Monday 12AM-3AM Eastern. As you know, it can behave squirrely sporadically at any time, but moreso during that maintenance window.
I couldn’t get in for the longest time. Payment tool not available, info doesn’t match. I finally figured it out. I went to IRS.GOV and clicked “Get Your Tax Record,” and clicked “Get Transcript Online.” Setup an account if you don’t have one already. Once in, Click view transcripts. Click any reason, they all get you to the same screen. Once at the transcript screen, download you latest Record Of Account. Some info has been deleted for security purposes, but the partial address that is on file with the IRS is at the top. I used that address and got into the My Payment Tool without issues. Input my account info and stimulus will be deposited into my account within 5 days. Hope this helps.
