I owe federal taxes and want to setup a payment plan with the IRS. I want to e-file my return with turbotax and setup the plan thru the IRS site. When I click the "I want to request an installment payment plan" it makes you fill out form 9465 and actually recommends (see pic) that you go online to the IRS site instead of filling out the form thru Turbotax. Apparently it's cheaper and there's more options thru the IRS application.
How to I e-file my return with Turbotax and setup a payment pan without selecting "I want to request an installment payment plan" thru Turbotax?

Selecting I will mail a check does the trick because it placates the process, however most people expect 100% guidance from TurboTax, and many folks, even the ones less sheep-like will likely go in a few circles before just choosing to placate the program -if they find the hole in the fence at all! TurboTax needs to fix this oversight and give a clear bypass option to just file the return and deal with the IRS directly online like they suggest!
