1/31 accepted date but no path message. Does everyone get a path message if they claim kids?

IRS has not started processing PATH returns as of yet. What you are seeing is normal and not everyone will have the same message. The IRS will begin to process PATH returns on or after February 15th. At that time you can then begin to check for updates using the Where’s My Federal Refund? tool on the IRS website here https://www.irs.gov/refunds. Updates are made daily, usually overnight.
