I get a notice of an error in my Iowa IRS form suggesting the "suffix" has too many characters, when I have not entered any suffix and I tried to backspace on that form and the blue field persists. I am unable to make any change. Turbo tax will not let mefor transmit the state form, despite the federal being accepted.
The error mentions that a dividend payer had too many characters (the 1099-divsh has the payer as "Range Telephone Cooperative, Inc.") I have not found a way to shorten the name on the form, if that is what is needed.

If you are using Desktop software..
Have you tried changing it on the 1099-DIV in Forms Mode. (i.e. do not try to do it in the error check...or navigate back go to the actual 1099-DIV in the Federal interview.)
And when you do change it..just end the name with "............ Coop"
Thanks, that seems to have worked!
