I guess I was asleep at the wheel and did not see turbo tax requiring windows 11. I guess they didnt see that Microsoft offered extended coverage of windows 10. Now all of us who have machines that for one reason or another cant upgrade are forced to either use the online tool...which is a joke and forces you to an expert, change to HR Block because they dont seem to have the requirement, go find a tax preparer or buy a new computer.
I'm really disappointed. 15 years of using turbotax culminating in this. Might be the last. I'm sure the financial impact will be palatable for them.... hmmm maybe I should short sell Intuit....good idea.

How about dead at the wheel? This decision was announced last summer or about 8 months ago.
You have quite a few options (for a dead person) most notably H&R Block desktop software. Just make sure you can import your 1099s (if you have any to import) from your brokerage firm because they've dumped a couple of larger firms for some reason (security I presume), like Merrill.
1) Ignore the village idiot, M-Tax, his answer to everyone is H&R Software and although no life and roams the community forum of TT (perhaps H&R employee?!) most of us only fire this up once a year to do ANNUAL TAXES.
2) As a 25+ year user of TT and previously Intuits Quicken (they spun that off in 2016), there are many things they are clearly focused on...getting everyone off desktop platforms and in their 'clouds'. Its good for them, but not for us. Not to mention additional security risks.
Good news on Tax platform, even with complex returns its getting easier/cheaper to use various online providers.
my 2 cents but just wait for M-Tax to weigh in with some Captain Obvious comments.
@markmil11 I'm done with you. Clearly, you're far too stupid for rational thought and discourse.
Right on cue!! 3,2,1 "Says the guy posting every few minutes to every user looking for answers "use H&R BLOCK SOFTWARE".
Yes, leave me and others trying to actually get their taxes done ALONE. Your just an annoyance to the adults.
