Updates for my TurboTax 2022 keep stalling so I tried to reinstall/Repair and got this error message:
"The file '_ssc.rabgrp_nommoc_lacol_tib23_rgnerepw' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data_1.cab'
I am using the CD-ROM version.
I'm not sure if this is the proper forum to post this to but it is the only one I could find that allows me to ask any question after searching for 25 minutes.

When you uninstall software it can leave files behind which interferes with the re-install of the software. After you uninstall, try manually uninstalling TurboTax.
Sometimes uninstalling TurboTax CD/Download software doesn't completely remove the program. If you need to, you can forcefully uninstall TurboTax to ensure all TurboTax files are removed. This doesn't remove your data.
First, follow these steps to uninstall TurboTax.
Then, view your Hidden Items in File Explorer
@dferrise Your best bet might be to totally uninstall the software, then manually remove files in my steps above. Re-start your computer, then re-install the software. Some where the repair you did might have messed up the files.

Thank you for the response but I am not attempting to uninstall the program - only trying to make it work which is why I used the Reinstall/Repair function.
Are you implying that I should totally uninstall the program then reinstall from CD again?

Thanks I'll try that. The program was already messed up since the updates hung and never came back.
I appreciate the assistance.
Even after following the instructions, when I reinstall I get this error:
To confirm that files have been properly deleted I snagged theses screenshots. And I did empty the recycle bin and I did restart. FYI - I have 30+ years of IT, programming, sysadmin, System Architecture experience (this does not mean I don't also make stupid mistakes).
Of course - I now realize that I skipped the first step of using the automated uninstall - trying again
100% success - thank you for your help
Glad it worked for you.
Repair / reinstall didn't work for me. I used the remove option instead. Then I rebooted the computer. And finally I did the install and everything worked just fine, like it was supposed to.
Thanks for the update!
