Injured spouse and stimulus payment

Alot of us are in the same boat. We have 4 other kids besides the one who he is on child support for ( who is also has sole custody of and lives with us) he is on back child support for. They took all of our money and my husband was out on furlough from his job :(

I contacted child support and they told me to resubmit another injured spouse form,but you said not to. I'm confused. I need my money. I have back Bills to pay and was waiting on my state and stimulus money to come in. My federal wasn't intercepted but the other two was. This is so messed up.

So whomever had the child will receive the stimulus check of the person who owes the support. As long as a Injured spouse form is submitted then the spouse who does not owe the debt will get their money. It's going to take weeks though.

Child support are who put the hold so that's why they tell you file a new one. Right now with irs closed we ain't getting any answers but the same blame back and forth to each department

I'm right there with you my husband an I have a 10 year old and he is paying back pay for a 25 year old that he never was allowed to see from the mother because the state dont enforce that but they know how to enforce the new wife money so easy..

I paid my debt by filing taxes injured spouse so i should have got the full stimulus but only received 1450 for both of us.

So it doesn't seem to matter if you files I hired spouse or not. This is ridiculous. The payment should have still gone to the family, everyone is struggling. The government is so wrong for this.

I guess we will never see myportionand I don't get why my son has to pay for my husband's child support--and my husband's back child support isn't even valid! I could so nothing but cry when I saw we weren't getting anything!

The IRS is ruthless they sent money to foreigners by mistake. Sent money to wealthy people who didn’t qualify by mistake. But, didn’t make an exception for their own working citizens in the country who owed child support🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

I am in the same boat.  They kept his stimulus check, which we expected, but then kept mine as well. I did what the letter said and filled out a new form 8379 and returned it along with the letter from the IRS stating the offset. I can’t find any info on how long to process. I wonder if it will be a check or direct deposit once the form is processed.  Also, why is the IRS offering NO live support?  Truly ridiculous.

Yes I think you and your children will get it as long as you filed the Injured Spouse form.

@mzzwillis I am in the same boat!!! My husband found out he had a son he did not know about!!! We found out his was his we fought the grandmother in court who had custody of him and won sole custody. He lives with us! Plus 4 other children we had together!! The grandmother has kept my husband on back child support even tho we have him and take care of him very well. Took our WHOLE stimulus check. My husband was put on furlough and they cut my hours. This stimulus was to help in a crisis. I have tried to call every outlet I can and nothing. Very sad
