Income in two states

Hi all, I moved to florida in september and have a full time rental in Maryland. I would have to file two state income taxes correct, one for maryland and one for florida? The rental income would all be taxed in Maryland because that is where its located? Lastly will the state forms allow for partial year residences? or how does that work that ive only been in florida since september. My employer stopped taking out state taxes then as well. Thanks!

Income in two states

You would only have to file a Maryland Part Year return for 2024 because Florida does not have a personal income tax.  You will report and pay tax on your wages for the time you worked in Maryland.  You will have to report all of the rental income/expenses. You will have resident income for the time you lived there, then nonresident income for the time you lived in Florida.

Moving forward, you will only file nonresident Maryland to report the rental income.
