Inappropriate filing charges

While completing the review of my state (IN) taxes, TurboTax informed me that it won't be able to file my state return due to duplicate values in some fields of my W2s, 1099-Rs, etc.  When I go to file though, it is still trying to charge me $59 for filing state.  How do I correct this?

Inappropriate filing charges

Check the Federal, State and Local line items for Withholding. If those are the same, TurboTax will typically identify it as an error because of the differences in Federal, State and Local tax rates.

Make sure that boxes 18, 19 and 20, and boxes 16 and 17, are all filled out consistently. TurboTax will also identify an error if withholding is more than wages.

To request a refund for a TurboTax state filing fee after mailing your return, you generally need to contact TurboTax Support directly, especially if you used the CD/download version. Online users often cannot get a refund because the fee covers preparation rather than e-filing. See this help article for more information.

Inappropriate filing charges

Please clarify your question by adding a few more details so we may better help you. Such as: Did you fix the duplicate errors on your return? Are you saying you should not be charged for your state return or that you paid twice? Were you able to e-file successfully? What are you trying to correct?

Inappropriate filing charges

It said that I had three or more fields on my W2 that were identical values. The fields in question were Federal Wages, State Wages, and Local Wages. All three of those were indeed the same value on the W2. TurboTax told me that makes the state return ineligible for e-filing. Since I had told it I wanted to e-file my state prior to running into this, it added the $59 charge to my fees. Now I can't remove it since I have to mail in my state return. I went ahead and e-filed my federal and printed my state for mailing but it would be nice if I could get that $59 refunded.
