No, it's not an oversight. The 1095-B form is not entered in TurboTax. It's for your records and proof you had health insurance.
Related information: Where do I enter my 1095-A?
2021, IRS held up my refund for 7 months because i didn't check the box that said i had 1095A insurance. that's ACA
i have champus (retired military). I had to xerox my military ID. and i filled out the 1095-B form &
sent it in as supplemental documents. IRS agent said i that proof of insurance was bot required then,
BUT it WILL BE required in 2022.
well it's 2022 and turbo tax still has not included the 1095B form in their system.
You are correct, Form 1095-A is from the Marketplace for Affordable Care Act documentation to calculate the Premium Tax Credit on Form 8962. If you or someone on your tax return received a Form 1095-A, they are required to be included in the return. If you only have Champus, then you would reply No, I didn't receive Form 1095-A to the question Did you receive Form 1095-A for your health insurance plan? and it should not require any attention at the IRS.
There is currently no federal penalty for not carrying health insurance, although there may be a state requirement in Massachusetts, California, New Jersey, Rhode Island, or the District of Columbia. You may need information from your Form 1095-B for those returns.
The 1095 forms come after the tax year, so the next one you receive will be for tax year 2021. If there are changes in the laws for tax year 2022, that will not impact the return until you file next year.
