In 2015, I was self-employed until August, and so filed an itemized 1040. For 2016, my husband and I both worked full time for U-Haul. Can we file a basic 1040 this year?
I was self-employed for over 26 years. 2016 will be the first year I've not been self-employed. Just not sure how to approach filing for 2016.

Assuming you closed out your business and filed a final Schedule C in 2015, you do not need to do anything special for 2016. A basic 1040 will be sufficient for you and your husband to file a joint return with W-2 income.
