Importing 1099's from LPL Financial

The import process completes, I get a "Success" message from the third party but no valid numbers are loaded into TurboTax after I return to TurboTax from the third party. TurboTax shows an import was done but all the numbers are zero. Need a solution besides "enter it yourself" because importing 1099's has worked in the past.

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.

To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:

  1. Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
  2. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
  3. Toggle the switch to ON.
  4. Refresh the page and attempt your import again.

If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:

  • Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
  • Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
  • Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.

Thank you. Your reply worked.

Do I need to turn the security toggle back on after turning it off via the third-party dialog box OR was the permission a one-time event? If security toggle needs turned back on, what is the procedure?

does it take a few days from when LPL posts forms to when they can be imported?  I put in the account and form number but nothing imports.  It just says its thinking

There is no delay, if you can view and download your forms from LPL Account-View they can be imported into TT. I'm assuming you have an online username/password to access online LPL Account-View. When importing you must give permission to the TT third party to allow access your PC to complete the import. There is a box that appears during the import which you must respond to. Until you give permission, nothing happens. If you continue to have problems importing from LPL I suggest you contact your Account Manager for help. Good luck!

Once your browser has opened a window to Sign In to your financial account, click the icon to the left of the URL address.  Then click on 'Site Settings'.  On the list that opens, scroll down to LAN and choose 'Allow'.
