Im a Lyft driver and filing is free for drivers using turbo tax self employment

To file for free through Lyft, go to Lyft's website.  Do not start directly at TurboTax.com, which charges the non-affiliate price.

 

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Lyft's website and select the TurboTax link or icon.
  2. Select your TurboTax product, sign in, and start on your tax return. (If you already set up an account at TurboTax, just sign in to work on your return).
  3. When you get to the Review your order screen (in the File section) you'll see the discounted price along with the message, Your discount has been applied.

If Your Lyft Discount for TurboTax is Not Applied and you followed the steps above, try deleting your cookies.

 

To verify the fees charged to you follow these steps:

  1. Go back to the Lyft website provided  and select the TurboTax link or icon..
  2. Sign in to TurboTax and open or continue your return.
  3. Select Tax Tools on the left, and then Tools.
  4. Now select the My Fees button. It should show the discount.

I am a Lyft driver who has not been able to receive the discount for about three days.  I have been logging into Turbo Tax directly for two months and seeing the Lyft logo and discount offer.  Lyft's page states that when you log into Turbo Tax without going through the dashboard you will loose the discount.  There is no additional information available.  I had the discount initially and later found the discount was no longer being applied.  To Restore the discount I had to clear data from Turbo Tax and start over. After clearing all data for the 2019 filing from Turbo Tax, I cleared my cache to remove all history of having logged into Turbo Tax or Lyft and restarted my Chrome browser. I then went to Tax Information in the Lyft Driver dashboard and was directed to Turbo tax where I was able to log in.  Upon logging into Turbo Tax I saw not only the Lyft Logo but the discount information appeared. Unfortunately, about thirty minutes in I checked the tax tools section of Turbo Tax to find my discount was not available and saw the Lyft logo was no longer present.  I had not logged out or timed out.  Naturally, I logged out of Turbo Tax and closed the tab returning to the Lyft Dashboard.  Upon clicking on the link in Lyft's tax information screen I received an error message...
"Our Apologies We cannot find the page you requested.You may have incorrectly typed the address (URL) or clicked an outdated link.For assistance, please contact the institution that provided the link,or to learn more about TurboTax Online, please visit TurboTax.com (/)"

 

I am sharing this information with Lyft also.  I have invested far too much time into this and will now be seeking other options due to the lack of urgency with either party to correct.  It has been my experience that both sites need to work together to ensure the link is functional.  I hope this was helpful to anyone seeking resolution for this very fixable problem.
