If we have been using turbotax deluxe but switched to turbotax home and business because of a home purchase, will our status change be addressed in the new version?

Not sure what you mean by your "status change" -- or why you think you need Home and Business because you purchased a home.  If you own a home and want/need to itemize mortgage interest, etc. for the house, Deluxe is sufficient.  Home and Business is more commonly used by users who have income from being self-employed, but it can also be used for any type of individual income tax return.  If you do not have income as an independent contractor then you will be using the "Home" side of the software.  If you have not opened it yet, you might want to return it and just stick with Deluxe, which is less expensive.
