If I make quarterly estimated payments for a household employee's FUTA etc, how do I enter that in TurboTax? Does it all go under Federal estimated tax payments?

Our payroll company made quarterly payments of employees withholding, our portions of social security and medicare, and FUTA for our nanny. I would like to know what portions of that need to be entered into the estimated quarterly payments: our portions of social security and medicare? FUTA? Do I need to enter state taxes withheld under state estimated payments?

You are correct that the taxes you paid on your Household Employee's income are reported as Estimated Tax Payments.

Report your payroll withholding taxes for your nanny on Schedule H.

You're required to file a Schedule H if you paid:

  • Any one worker $2,200 or more during 2020
  • Any one worker, regardless of payment amount, if you withheld income taxes for them
  • Wages totaling $1,000 or more during any calendar quarter to all your household employees in the preceding two years

If you also pay state unemployment insurance taxes, Schedule H gives you credit for them by reducing the FUTA rate.
