If I am claimed as a dependent will I receive less money on my return?
If someone is eligible to claim you at their dependent and does so, they will benefit from your $4,050 exemption that you will not.
However, if you file as Single and earned less than $6,350 in W-2 wages in 2017 you will not be able to benefit from your exemption anyway-you will not be losing anything.
