If daughter was a full time college student 5 months. she made $25,000 but did not pay living expenses. Can we claim her as a dependent?

My daughter was a full time on campus student one full semester in 2017 and then lived home for 4 months before moving out.  During 2017 she made $25,000 from internship and a job post graduation.  Can I still claim her as a dependent?

Yes, if she doesn't provide more than half of her own support.

*Note. Your child is considered to have lived with you during periods of time when one of you, or both, are temporarily absent due to special circumstances such as:

  • Illness,
  • Education,
  • Business,
  • Vacation,
  • Military service, or
  • Detention in a juvenile facility.

Who can I claim as my dependent?
