I used Turbo Tax since my 2010 return. I claim many business related expense each year. This year the software rejects all these deductions and defaults to standard. Why?

If you are a W-2 employee, these are no longer deductible for Federal under the new tax law. But they may help for State.

If you are self-employed, they go on Schedule C, not Schedule A.

If these deductions were related to your W-2 employment, Miscellaneous deductions subject to the 2% limit, including unreimbursed job expenses (reported on Form 2106) have been repealed for tax years 2018 – 2025.
