I thought this was free, why is it saying I owe 80.00?

Free only works on Simple returns, a couple of years ago I thought I was going to get by with a free file, but upon getting to a certain point in my return a particular form was required that was not included with free file and I had to upgrade and purchase the software/download online just because of one form. Sorry hope this helps.
