When I entered y data. I made the mistake of answering yes to did I live in one of the countries that would make my social security income non taxable. Yet in another place I stated that I was a resident of Michigan for the full year.
I would have thought that when it checked my return for errors it should have flagged this error.

No those are 2 different things and places. Have you filed yet? Go back to your Social Security entry and change it to No.
Federal Taxes (Personal for Home&Business)
Wages and Income
Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
Then the second line - Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Revisit button
Then keep going, on the next screen be sure to answer Did you live in a Foreign Country? NO. If you are married you need to say No for each spouse.
I understand that they are two different things. But when you checked my return. It said there was nothing wrong. Shouldn't TurboTax flag that you can't live in two countries at the same time?
This is an example of an issue where the calculations are not wrong as is, but an enhancement could serve to alert the user that they have given inconsistent answers in different areas of the return.
If you have suggestions for enhancements for TurboTax, you can submit them the next time you receive a survey from TurboTax. I will also forward the suggestion.
