That's the starting link. I have the same problem as the person above. I click the register button and it's saying yes or no to continue but I never started the registration. If I click yes or no both do the same thing taking me to a thing that says
"Hi Brayton, we've sent your info to the IRS to process your stimulus paymentLook for an email from us, or check back here in a couple days to see whether your submission was accepted."
But I haven't done anything yet so I think it's not working?
It depends upon the link you use.
If you are trying to register for the stimulus payment, please use the link below.
You will be taken through the steps to enter your name, address, personal information, etc.
When you are asked if you will be filing your taxes, you should enter no if you have no filing requirement.
If you say yes here, you will be redirected to your tax return input section.
If you are just trying to prepare your tax return, please use the link below. This will take you to the website to prepare your tax return.
"You will be taken through the steps to enter your name, address, personal information, etc."
It's not asking me for any information, there was no steps at all. Could it have everything it needed for the registration from when I started filing my taxes the other day I didn't mail it in because I don't have a printer so I may have to go print it somewhere and mail it out if this free registration doesn't work.
If you have filed your taxes, you cannot use the stimulus check site. The IRS will obtain the information it needs from your tax return if you elected direct deposit of your refund. The TurboTax Stimulus Check site is for individuals with $0 income only.
I haven't actually finished filing my taxes because I don't think I need to if there is going to be this free registration instead. I normally don't ever file my taxes I just was doing them the other day because I thought that was the best way to get the stimulus. But maybe this turbo program thinks I went somewhere and printed those tax papers but I didn't and would rather not do that way anymore. Do you think I should make a new account and try the free registration again since it didn't seem like it was working correctly because it didn't ask me anything.
Yes, I do.
If you don't need to file, just register.
Once you start a return, that account does not seem to allow you to register without filing, so it looks like you'll need to set up a new account. You should be able to use the same email address, but will need a different username and password.
Thanks KrisD15 that worked.
