I think my 2023 return is in a bad state. My employer issued a W-2C. I started an amended review, edited some of the numbers in my W2. Turbo tax said I owed an additional $3000. I decided to do the amendment later. So I canceled the amendment.
Today I returned to do the amended review. Now, in my original return, turbo-tax has my amended numbers. It seems when I canceled, it didn't revert the changes. And it also says I owe $0. And in the status page, it also thinks I filed the amended return, which I did not do. I go through the whole amend process and it won't let me efile because it thinks I already filed.
How do I get my return back into the original state?

Are you using the Online version or the Desktop program? For Online it is too late to fix that. Online is closed for 2023 and prior years so it saved the incorrect amended return.
For Desktop (Step 6 is important)
If you started amending your federal return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment, follow this process to correctly "unamend" your federal return:
1. Open your return
2. Switch to Forms Mode
3. In the left pane, select Form 1040X
Windows: After the form is generated in the right pane, select the Delete Form button at the bottom of the window
Mac: From the Forms menu, select Remove Form 1040X
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the 1040X from your return
5. Switch back to interview mode by selecting Step-by-Step in the upper right corner (Windows) or EasyStep in the upper left corner (Mac)
6. Important: Undo any changes you made to your return after you selected the option to amend your 2023 return, as deleting your 1040X won't undo those entries
