Yes - you do claim SSDI on your return. If you received SSDI payments in 2019, you should receive a form SSA-1099. Generally, Social Security Disability Benefits (SSDI) are not taxable unless you have substantial additional income.
To enter your Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099, please follow these steps:
- Click on Federal > Wages & Income
- Scroll down to the Retirement Plans and Social Security section and click on the Start/Revisit box next to Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099).
- On the next screen, Social Security Benefits, mark the Yes button and click Continue.
- On the screen, Tell Us About the Benefits You Received, mark the box for Social Security benefits (Form SSA-1099).
- Enter the figures from the SSA-1099-SM in the boxes that appear and click Continue.
- Continue through the screens, entering the requested information.
