I received wages without documentation, How do I report it?

If you didn't receive a W-2, it's likely because you are considered self-employed (an independent contractor by the school). If you were paid less than $600 by any one entity, they are not required to issue a 1099-NEC, but you must report the income if it exceeds $400.

 

Steps to Report Self-Employment  Income in TurboTax

Self-Employment Income

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Navigate to the Schedule C section:
    • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to Schedule C or use magnifying glass to search for Schedule C and select the Jump to link.
  3. Answer Yes on the Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? screen.
    • If you land on the Your 2024 self-employed work summary page, select Review next to the work you're adding income for.
  4. Answer the questions on the following screens until you arrive at Let's enter the income for your work.
  5. Select Other self-employed income and select Continue.
  6. On the next page you can enter any cash, personal checks, checks, credit card payments, or cryptocurrency (Form 1099-K) related to your self-employment.

Reach back out if this is not self-employment income
