I use the UNIX "vi" editor, but you can use any editor you like to modify the Java Script ".js" text file.
"vi" uses "vim" now on Mac. You can type vi or vim in terminal - they are the same.
Also enter "man vim" to get the manual for vi/vim.
TurboTax MAC 2014 same crash on OS X 10.14.6 Mohave on a mid 2015 Macbook Pro. I followed the suggestion and edited the .js file and viola. TT 2014 loaded flawlessly after doing an update check. That was the point at witch the app would crash an produce the crash report.
I uninstalled and deleted the TT 2014, reinstalled from same download version. Then launched no problem, it ran a update download 103.3 MB, ran the install. After the update is when the crash occurred.
Thanks a great tip.
Glad you got it to work. Unfortunately most Mac users know nothing about Terminal and editing UNIX files.
Yes I'm well versed in terminal and doc editing tools. Albeit, I did everything using the GUI, Finder and editor. The trick is to get to the user's default Library ( ~/Library/ ) folder and understand what to edit or how to rearrange the text string within the script file. Easy peasy as it were. Thanks again for the tip.
The working version of offline-content.js
(function () {
if (typeof module !== 'undefined' && module.exports) {
module.exports = {
returnPriorityList : returnPriorityList,
buildQuery: buildQuery,
loadJSONForGroup: loadJSONForGroup
}
}
return {
bus: ServiceBus,
handler: ServiceBusRequestHandler
};
})()
Thanks so much for pointing out the code fix. In my case i found the 2015 fix had to be applied to the App, as the ~/library didn't work. I twas found in
/Applications/TurboTax Business 2015.app/Contents/Resources/Content/Assets/asset_service.js
A real lifesaver, i had to generate 8 years of returns in one night for someone.
MacOS 10.14 Mojove. Need to know TT2014 as well as TT2015 and TT2016 if they will run on Mojave and Catalina?
I have been ill since early 2015 and a nonworking iMac 2019 for 15 months. Another replacement still not fully functional as of 11/21/2021 attempting to install Mojove on it.
I am required to have filed the back returns 12/31/2020. Due to iMac issues, extension to 04/2022. URGENT need CD updates to maintain compatibility and complete returns.
The IRS can go back 7 years / some cases 10 years. Intuit should know this and be required to maintain compatibility of all versions for 10 years.
It would behoove Apple to recognize as well.
this is a perfect example of why links should not be used in these forums... both are broken. Update with proper information.

The links are many years old. 2015 is no longer supported and has not been supported for several years.
This terminal command is all run together. What part is the command to past into terminal?
Secondly, is this assuming TT is on iCloud drive instead of in Finder Applications folder?
Appreciate isolating just the command for terminal and clarification of path to be used.
someone is going to need to provide a step by step instruction of opening terminal, going into VI editor, how to place the command into editor, what are the lines of code to put in the editor, how to run the code, how to quit VI editor once done.
This applies for 2014 script and a 2015 script for TT 2014 and TT 2015 Home Business. I have no clue where to begin and the steps to run on the CD download installed in Mojave.
