If you received a state income tax refund from a state that wasn't your resident state, you would only have to report it on your 2016 return if you itemized deductions in 2015 or a prior year and got a tax benefit from deducting your state income tax from that state on your return.
If that is the case with you,
- Go to the
top of your screen and choose My Account.
- Choose
Tools.
- Choose
Topic Search, then type in your topic (state income tax refund) and click
Go. Then follow the prompts.
