I received a 1099 nec paper after I filed my taxes

Hey y’all I received a 1099 nec paper after I submitted my taxes yesterday. Everything was approved, but now I do not know what to do. I had no clue I was going to receive it, so there was no need for me to wait and file. What do I do now? This is my first time receiving a 1099-nec.

As far as filing, you will need to file an amended return.

As far as the 1099-NEC, what was it payment for? Are you self-employed?

When should I file it? I see some post say wait until you receive your money, or should I do it immediately?

It depends.  If your tax return hasn't been processed yet or your e-filed return is still pending, wait at least until the return is accepted before amending.

If your return gets rejected by the IRS, simply log back into your account, and make any necessary corrections.  

If your return gets accepted by the IRS, "We recommend that you wait to file your amendment until you have received your refund or three weeks from the date of payment of taxes due."
