I have tried all the FQA. My 1099 misc inf appears in box 3 as other income.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
To enter a Form 1099-MISC -
Or enter 1099-misc in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1099-misc
After entering the Form 1099-MISC the program asks a series of questions to determine how the income is to be reported. On the screen for Uncommon situations select None of these apply. Do not indicate that this income is from your work, that it was not an intent to earn money.
I have the exact same problem. Since TD Ameritrade enters the promotional income as Box-3 Other Income on the 1099-Misc form, Turbo Tax creates a Schedule C form (Profit or Loss from Business (Sole Proprietorship)), and then Turbo Tax asks for a bunch of information on the Schedule C when going through the Federal Review step. The creation of a Schedule C seems wrong to me. I don't have a Sole Proprietorship, but I also don't know how to accurately report the income under 1099-Misc, and not trigger the creation of a Schedule C. Please help.... I too have spent hours on this, and can't find anything posted that solves my problem. Thank you.
I have the same problem. Were you able to get around this issue?
Did either of you follow the solution that DoninGA gave above? It's still valid.
Ski_CO - you may need to delete your business that you accidently created.
