I read on some blog that if a person owes back child support they will not get the stimulus check. Is this true?

If my spouse owes the back child support and the children are not mine how do I file so that my stimulus check isn't also used for those back payments

Yes, If you and your husband filed a joint return, the IRS will withhold your stimulus payment to pay for the back child support.  If you filed a separate return, then you would receive your stimulus payment.

IRS can readily see that one person owes and the other does not.

Where does it say that both filers have to give up their payment?
