I paid tax on my unemployment so, how come I am being taxed for it again?

You were probably withheld for federal and possible state taxes.

Depending on your overall tax situation, you may have been over withheld or under withheld.

If under withheld, you may owe additional taxes on the income. Withholding on for unemployment income works exactly the same as withholding on a W-2.

You are not double taxed on either income category.
