Unless your mortgage interest and other itemized expenses added up to more than $24,000, you will not see any benefit from the mortgage interest which is why you would not be seeing it.  The $24,000 is the standard deduction for Married Filing Jointly. You will either get the Standard Deduction or the Itemized Deduction, you cannot get both.

Do you have other itemized expenses? Charitable donations, medical expenses more than 7.5% of your AGI?
