I only put in 2 W2s. I should only need the basic form.

Is there anyway to tell why it is making me upgrade? I shouldn’t need to based on the information it is giving me.

Due to the new tax change, the old Form 1040EZ and 1040A have been modified to be one consolidated Form 1040 with six additional schedules. If the free edition does not support some of your forms and you want to file with TurboTax, you will have to upgrade, unfortunately.

If you want to file free, here are the options:

The W4 form, that my employer provides, has changed since I last touched it in 1999. With changing income, life events (married, kids), can you run through the basics of what one needs to have figured out (income, dependents, etc.) when you do the W4?
