I only made $624.50 at one of my jobs (I only worked 3 shifts) do i need to report the income when filing my taxes?

I didn't get a w2 and this was the same situation with this employer for 2019. When I called re the 2019 w2 they said I didn't need to report the income if it was less than 1000. Id didn't report it for 2019 and was fine, but this year I'm getting a bigger refund so far and don't want to appear s though I'm hiding anything.

IRS says you are to report all income received during the year on your income tax return.

You may not have made enough income for them to be required to issue you Form W-2, but that doesn't mean you don't have to report it as income.

You can use Form 4852, Substitute W-2, to report the income in the return, but will need the employer's EIN in order to e-file it.  You may be able to ask a co-worker if they have the EIN or if you have it on a prior year W-2 you did receive.

Refer to the following link for additional information on using Form 4852 in TurboTax:

You can file a conventional paper return that includes IRS Form 4852 if all efforts to obtain a W-2 from your employer have failed. Here's how to fill one out:

  1. Open your return and search for W-2. Select the Jump to link in the search results to get to the W-2 entry screen.
  2. Fill out your W-2 as best you can using the information from your last pay stub.
  3. Answer any questions until you get to the Let's check for uncommon situations screen.
  4. Check the box next to Didn't get a W-2 and select Continue.
  5. On the Let's check if you need a substitute W-2 screen, select Yes then Continue.
  6. Answer the follow-up questions. Select Print to download and print your IRS Form 4852.

Returns including Form 4852 can't be e-filed per IRS regulations.

Thank you, I appreciate your advice. I called them and got a W-2 so I was able to include that income. Thank you very much your advice was very helpful.

There are some circumstances where your income is low enough that you are not required to file a tax return. However, if you file a tax return for any reason, you must report all your income. There is no exception for small jobs or short term work.
