I need to find a way to lower my fees. Why am I being charged $116.97? that seems way too high.

So was mine! I went back to taxact and i was able to file Fed and State for Free! I have been using TaxAct for years and never had an issue just wanted to try TurboTax this year until I got to the fees so I just went back to TaxACT and the refund amounts were the same

Click on Tax Tools over to the left of the screen and then click Tools. When the box pops up, click My Fees and see what add-ons or upgrades you have added. It'll show a breakdown for you there. 

It looks like you are posting from TurboTax Online Deluxe and that is a paid version of the software. So you will pay for that version of the software and if adding a state download, that is additional. 

Also, if you are opting to pay TurboTax fees with refund, that will be an additional cost. And if you added any benefit add-ons, those are additional. Below are links that will take you to instructions to remove what you don't want.

• Remove a state
• Clear and start over to remove all fees and start from scratch.

For the past 8 years I have been loyal to TurbTax, never wavering or questioning.  I submitted incorrect data mistakenly and only noticed at the last minute and wanted to see if TurboTax would notify me.   They didn't and error was corrected by the Federal Government.  No where near the return I expected.  Each of the 8 years, TurboTax has increased my fees.  Not any more.  I will explore more reasonable avenues.  Not a fan of TT.
