I mailed 2019 taxes this year. Irs does not recognize my agi when I file 2020 . 2019 hasn't been processed I'm being told to put 0. Will this not cause an overpayment?

No, when you are asked to enter your 2019 AGI in order to file your 2020 tax return electronically, the number serves as an form of identity verification.  It does not affect the tax return itself and is not included on your 2020 tax return.

Entering '0' in your case is just telling the system that there is not a 2019 return in the IRS system for you.

If the IRS is rejecting your 2020 tax return even though you have entered the correct 2019 AGI then enter a 0 (zero) for the 2019 AGI and e-file the 2020 tax return again.

Last year, I did free-file-fillable right after the CARES act was signed, so  the first stimulus of $1,200 was the talk of the town & it was obviously much easier than doing regular w-2 stuff, so It sufficed. I don’t recall ever amending it, but somehow TT has a full, 100+ page ‘19 return transcript that i can even add write-offs onto but i dunno where it came from… That being said, the irs sent me a letter in March asking about an e-filed return with my social that I certainly didn’t do. On 3/1, my EDD card had been copied & whoever it was checked the balance & then withdrew what they could at a nearby Wells Fargo atm after doing a balance inquiry- this was Monday, 3/1, JUST before I got the irs letter. Point is, I wanna know where MY 2019 return came from & why it was never received or processed by the irs…

@jsbro33 No one in the user forum can explain what happened with your account or your tax return.   We have no access to your return or your account.   It sounds as if you may be  victim of identity theft.  Contact customer support about the TT account that has your SSN to see if they can provide any information.

Phone support is not provided with the Free Edition.  If you are using a paid version of the software or if you purchased PLUS you can get phone support when customer support is there.  Otherwise, post your question here and someone will try to help.
