I’m using the desktop version of TT which allows for 5 efiles. If I get rejected by the IRS and file again, does that count as 2 efiles leaving me with 3 remaining?

No, rejected federal e-files do not count as one the 5 allowed e-files.   When a return is rejected and you resend it (even multiple times), this still only counts as one of your allowed five returns.

No, rejected federal e-files do not count as one the 5 allowed e-files.   When a return is rejected and you resend it (even multiple times), this still only counts as one of your allowed five returns.
