I'm filing Married Jointly, and my wife was an au pair for the first 5 months of the year. Can I still file using TurboTax or do I have to use the 1040NR-EZ form for her?

I would also like to know the answer to the above question (from fr434046). I'm not sure how to file my newly-wed au pair wife if we are filing jointly.

did you get the answer, have the same situation no w2 for earning while au pair.  Married in May and have green card since November.  The only income is from time as Au Pair.  Will file married filing jointly.

Hi this is really good news! I am in the same boat. Married my waife last year she worked as anaupair for the whole year.  How do you report the aupair income if she didn't get a w2? I see no option in turbotax

It depends.  Was your wife a domestic servant working for a US host family? If so, was the income she earned more than $2300? If so, the host family should have filed a Schedule H reporting her income and then issue her a W2.

The best way to report her income without a W2 is to report it as Schedule C, self-employment income.  Go to;

  1. Federal>wages and income
  2. Self-Employment>Self-employment income and expenses
  3. Complete the profile that asks about your business.  This may not seem like a business but it is in the respect that FICA taxes need to be paid.
