Take a closer look at the information on your W-2.
Often there is a control number on the form that may appear to be the employer's Federal ID number. The number you are entering should be in the format xx-xxxxxxx and not a single long string of digits.
When I enter my employer identification number on the TurboTax desktop version, it gives me a pop-up message saying "W-2 import for this employer is unavailable in this product at this time." But I'm not asking it to import the W-2 - I'm just trying to move on to the next step to enter all of the info manually. It also says to try again on February 18 - why should I have to wait two more weeks when I'm just doing it manually?

If you are on a screen which only has a box for entering the EIN then just click on Continue to go past this screen. Then you will be able to enter all the W-2 information on the following screens, including the EIN.
Thanks, although the way it's set up is confusing - I would have never guessed that was the solution.
