I'm a sole proprietor who files under my SS - Do I just list my own name on the 1099 Misc I send to IC's; or do I list my name and then DBA my company name?

I file as an individual / sole proprietor; using my SSN when I file my tax returns.

My company is a different name than my personal name.

On the "Payor" line, When I fill out the Turbo Tax 1099 Misc Forms for IC's I have paid, do I just list my name?  Or my name and then DBA my company name?

AKA:

Payor:  Bob Brown

or

Payor:  Bob Brown DBA Bob's Balloons?

You can just use your business name on the 1099 form and then use your SSN as your employer tax identification number.  Your business name will also be listed on your tax return and so both the 1099's you create and your tax return will be linked to your SSN.  So just using your business name will be fine on the 1099 form.

Is one more "right" than another?  For the past few years I've only used my own name, not my business name.

See my additional comment above.  And yes, you can certainly use your own name or both if you would prefer.

I used many Independent Contractors last year.

Some work under their SS, some under an EIN.

When I have them fill out a W9, the EIN using Contractors list their name as the top line, then they list a Business name on the next line.

AKA:
Bob Brown
Bob's Balloon Parties

The Turbo Tax form for 1099 Misc EIN only has one line - "company name"

Would I ONLY use:
Bob's Balloon Parties ?

or would I use:
Bob Brown DBA Bob's Balloon Parties ?
