I work for a staffing agency in NY and am sub-contracted to a company in Maryland, where I currently work remotely. None of my services are performed in the state of NY (physically or remotely) and if I did go into an office it would be in Maryland.
So to clarify, I live in Florida, am employed by a NY agency, and work remotely in Maryland. My w2 did not withhold any state taxes; do I have to file taxes in either Maryland or NY?

No. You do not have to file income tax returns in either Maryland or New York. The location of the staffing agency is not relevant, as they are an intermediary. Maryland taxes non-residents on Maryland-sourced income, which the state defines as compensation for services performed in Maryland.
You did not provide any services in Maryland, even though you sub-contracted for a MD company. All your income is Florida-based.

Thank you!! Navigating all this tax stuff is a headache, but I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. 😊
