Northern Trust pays Alberts retirement funds. That is the number I've been using but it gets rejected.'

Are you using the federal tax id number from the form 1099R issued by Northern Trust? Try deleting and backspacing the box several times to ensure there are no stray spaces. Reenter the nine-digit number in the format xx-xxxxxxx.
