Schedule B form 1099-INT box 14 from Edward Jones shows various. Turbo Tax online program is asking for a Cusip number. What do I do?

Last year we just left that box blank (in the software form) if it was from a mixture of bonds/funds.

Though it seems to accept "various" with desktop software.

The software accepts Various but will not allow the return to be filed electronically. Can the taxpayer break out the form into separate 1099s without creating a problem with the IRS which receives only one combined form?

I hadn't gone that far...don't know yet.  It wasn't absolutely required in prior years to have that box filled in.

I have the same problem.  My 2016 taxes also had various for box 14 and was able to e-file last year without a problem.

I'm pretty sure leaving box 14 blank would be OK...but I'm checking on it.

If you did happen to paper file, you wouldn't even be sending in your 1099-INT anyhow (unless it had some Fed/State  withholding on it, but that's fairly rare)

The answer on the Turbo Tax website Q&A says leave it blank.  I did and it was sent and accepted by the IRS.
