I got a new computer and downloaded turbotax 2023 and installed and tried to open the .tax2023 file which is on the new computer. t2023 can only see .tax2022 files.

Appears to be no tech support available.  What do I do now?  I am going to try to uninstall and reinstall although it is a real pain - I have now logged onto intuit 3 times even though I have the activation codes.

If you are using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions for tax year 2023 and you have a 2022 tax data file, which has a file extension of .tax2023, then you only need to Open the tax return.

Click on the File menu at the top left of the desktop program screen.  Click on Open Tax Return.  If the 2023 return does not open immediately then Browse to where you saved the 2023 tax data file.

actually what worked was to open the folder in file manager, right click on the file, and use open with and select turbotax.  Once you have successfully opened and then saved one tax2023 file, when you open turbotax again, the software will show you the file you saved and also give you a "Find my file" link that allows you to pick a tax2023 file to open.

Your solution probably also works if turbotax does not filter the files it shows you.  Thank you.
