Why is till pending ?

The IRS should open up today (January 26) to begin accepting/rejecting and processing returns.   If your efile has a status of "pending", be aware that returns efiled prior to 1/26/2026 have been sitting on TurboTax servers until the IRS opens today, except for a few returns pulled for processing early for testing purposes.   All of the backlogged returns can't be pulled by the IRS on opening day.  So it can take up to a couple of days or more.
