Employers are required to provide W-2's no later than 01/31/2019 for tax year 2018. Make sure any employer you worked for in 2018 has your correct mailing address.
The IRS has not published a date in 2019 when they will be accepting any type of 2018 tax return. So wait until you have received your W-2 before completing the W-2 section of the program.
Please do not try to use your pay stub to prepare your tax return. It will not match the W-2 that you will get from your employer in just a few short weeks. You employer has until the end of January to give you your W-2. By waiting for your W-2 you will be able to file accurately. If you try to guess what goes in the W-2 “boxes” and mess up your return, you will need to amend. It takes about 4 months to amend a tax return. The IRS is not accepting 2018 returns yet—and probably will not be accepting them until late January or even early February, so you can wait for your W-2.
