A W-2G is only used for Gambling income.  Is that what you want to enter?  If so, and you did not receive a W-2G then just click on NO when asked if you have a W-2G.  The following screen will let you enter your gambling income without a W-2G.

To enter, edit or delete Gambling Winnings and Losses -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Less Common Income
  • On Gambling Winnings, click the start or update button

Or enter w2g in the Search box in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to w2g

OR -

Are you actually asking about a W-2 for your income as an employee?  If so, then you have to wait for your employer to provide you the W-2.  Employers have until 02/01/2021 to give you a W-2.

Hello, @DoninGA

I won gambling money, I bet on sports throughout the year, and on Sportsbook App I took a win, and on the other ones, I took a loss. I haven't received any documents (no, W-2G). But I had a lot of Deposits and Withdrawals from the Apps. I just want to make sure I do this correctly?  And my refund dropped when I put in the winnings and losses.

Thank you

It depends. Please read this IRS link regarding Gambling Winnings and losses. the main point in this article is that  "A payer is required to issue you a Form W-2G, Certain Gambling Winnings if you receive certain gambling winnings or have any gambling winnings subject to federal income tax withholding, which is what you have at this point." Also read carefully what the article says about gambling losses. You can only claim these if you are able to itemize your deductions for the year.

If you don't have a W2-G, you can still report your gambling winnings by:

  1. Go to federal>income and expenses>all income>>show more
  2. Less Common Income> Start
  3. Gambling Winnings,>start
  4. Carefully, answer the questions. Be sure to enter your gross winnings first.
  5. The next screen will ask you to enter gambling losses up to the amount of your winnings. Keep in mind after entering your losses, you may not be able to claim these unless your itemized deductions are greater than your standard deduction amount for the year.
  6. Keep your winnings and losing records handy just in case if you are audited. Not having a W2-G may raise a red flag with the IRS so be ready to present your documentation if necessary.
