Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I completed my taxes and then got an email from my realtor with my settlement info for my first time home purchase that she said to give to my tax person? What now?

First time home buyer, tax return was accepted and I paid what I was told I owed. Turbo tax never asked if I bought a house so I had no place to insert that info even of I had it at the time.

It depends. Do you know if you itemized your deduction on your return or if you used the standard deduction? If you used the standard deduction and were not close to the threshold, there is nothing that needs to be done.

I'm guessing you did not itemize. Below are the standard deductions for tax year 2024.

There is no First Time Homebuyers Credit on your federal return. Some states may have some sort of tax break for First Time Homebuyers but you do not mention what state you are in. I also included below a couple articles that might be of interest to you.

2024 Standard Deductions

Single $14,600

Married Filing Jointly $29,200

Head of Household $21,900

Married Filing Separately $14,600
