Right now, I am stuck on a page where turbo tax is trying to get me to do my 2019 taxes. There is no "back" button, and no way for me to download my 2017 tax return.
what do I do?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
To access your prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
See this TurboTax support FAQ for accessing prior year online tax returns - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/01/270...
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf
The problem is that when I click on that link - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
It takes me to a page where it asks me to fill in information for a 2019 tax return.
It does not take me to a home page where there are buttons for different services, including scrolling down to the end of the page for downloading a prior year tax return....
does this make sense to you?
ok, I figured it out. I ended up having to do a "dummy" 2019 return, where I just clicked on all of the continue buttons.
At the end, it gave me the option to keep or get rid of the current return. I elected to get rid of the current return and turbotax took me right back to the home page, where I was able to download my previous years tax return...
This is a poorly designed software...
